A Champagne Cocktail

This past Saturday was Second Saturday on the Avenue and this month we decided to have a little party celebrating my birthday – which was last Thursday!  And what do you serve at a birthday party?  Cupcakes of course!  And, in my case, a champagne cocktail!

I found this recipe on Saveur for an Elderflower Champagne cocktail.  I love St Germain, a sweet liquor made of elderflower blossoms, and just happened to have a bottle lying around!  Champagne and St Germain is such a classic combination and the cucumber added the perfect hint of freshness (I forgot to add the mint, but it was still tasty tasty!).  I also added some club soda which help cut the sweetness of the St Germain further, but totally not necessary.
